About You

Making It, but Not Truly Living

It’s lonely out there.

It feels like nobody really understands what you’re going through. How could they?

Everybody depends on you. How can you open up to any of them? How can you ever let them see what’s actually going on inside?

Paralyzed by anxiety, stifled by self-doubt, oppressed by feelings of anxiety, you struggle to be who you really want to be – for your friends and family, your colleagues and community, and, more importantly, yourself.

Dreaming of the Life You Want

There’s something more out there. Something better. You can see it, sense it, feel it.

And you think about it – long for it – all the time – how wonderful you look, how great you feel, and how fantastic the world is. Every. Single. Day.

You just don’t know how to get there.

How can you break free from the things that are holding you back so you can find your authentic self? So you can savor that life.

There’s good news. You’re not alone, and I have a map.

Making It Real

Let me help you get there.

I create an inviting, open, genuine, and nonjudgmental space where we can establish a solid therapeutic relationship through honesty, tears, and maybe even a dash of humor here and there.

We’ll go at your pace. Some prefer to dive in headfirst to solve their issues or complaints – while others need to dip their toes before moving to the deep waters.

I don’t expect you to trust me immediately. I want to show you how to trust yourself and to allow me, through time, to earn your trust.

After all, I know this is your life and your journey, and I’m privileged to be part of your transformation.

Making the Journey

Our journey will be a collaborative one. When we work together, I want you to feel comfortable at all times, as though you truly have a partner.

And as your partner, fully committed to helping you achieve your goals, I’ll occasionally challenge you to try new things as well as to be open to shifting your paradigm.

But no matter what we’re doing, you’ll leave each session feeling validated, empowered, intrigued by what we’ve discussed and what you’ve learned about yourself, and more hopeful than you were initially.

Jettisoning the Judgment

What you won’t find from me is judgment.

Most of us have spent plenty of time and energy judging ourselves, and it’s gotten us nowhere.

In our work together, we’re about letting go of the judgment – leaving behind the would’ve, should’ve, and could’ve and moving forward to the day of saying, “We did it!

Over time (and sometimes more quickly than you even anticipated), you’ll complete your transformation and realize your authentic and best self.

Discovering the Difference

If you’ve read this far, you might be asking yourself, “Ok, this sounds great and all, but what makes you different from other qualified therapists?”

It’s all about motivation and relationships.

My entire focus is seeing you succeed and thrive. You aren’t just getting a mental health professional who’ll help you understand yourself better in terms of mental and emotional health – you’re also getting a dedicated coach, consultant, cheerleader, and resource guide.

My relevant life and professional experiences and expertise will prove beneficial in getting you where you want – and, most importantly, need – to be.

Rewriting Your Narrative

I’m so happy you decided to check out my About page.

Every therapist is different. Whether you’re new to therapy or you’ve traveled this road before, I’ll be riding shotgun.

You’ll be in the driver’s seat. Together, we’ll empower you to build your self-confidence, excel personally and professionally, and start living the life of your dreams.

About Me

My Lifelong Mission

As one who has always wanted to help others and quickly noticed that people felt comfortable confiding and asking me for advice, I realized my calling early on and decided to pursue a career in social work.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Community Service and Religious Studies – Family Ministries from Lenoir-Rhyne University and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I’m currently a doctoral student studying Human Services – Organizational Leadership and Management at Capella University.

My 15-plus years of professional experience in the field includes working in state government, education, nonprofit, community mental health, and medical sectors, as well as in private practice.

My mission is to help you become confident, empowered, and self-assured in your worth and value as a human being.

I’m licensed as a clinical social worker- LCSW in Missouri (#2010036934), New York (#092565), and Tennessee (#7907) and registered as an Independent Social Worker Telehealth Provider in Florida- https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/ (#TPSW903) & South Carolina (#40).

My “Free” Time

When I’m not working or studying for class, I enjoy spending time with my family. My interests include collecting inspirational quotes, writing to-do lists (and yes, I still use pen and paper), reading non-fiction books, walking, and curating interesting articles on my Evernote app (then never remember to go back to re-read!) – and, when possible, watching Netflix movies and taking Sunday afternoon naps.
